FAQs
How do you obtain inserts?
What inserts will work with my Pump Pod?
The Pump Pod was developed with sizing in mind. It was designed specifically to allow Pumping Pretty Inserts a perfect fit with the Pump Pod.
How is this different from the Haakaa?
The interior diameter of the Haakaa is 36mm without the ability to size down the diameter. The Pump Pod starts out at 24mm, like a standard flange, with the ability to use inserts to reduce the size to 19, 17, 15, and 13mm.
Is this considered a pump or a let down catcher?
This is a hybrid of the two. The Pump Pod is a let down catcher with the ability to stimulate and secure a suction like a manual hand pump.
Is it spill proof?
Yes, we designed the Pump Pod to have a very secure plug. Rest assured that your baby and young toddler will not be able to remove the Pump Pod plug.
Is it BPA free?
Yes, all material is BPA- FDA food grade safe.
What is the best way to pour it?
Squeeze the flange to form a spout and tilt upside down until empty.
How long can I leave my milk in the Pump Pod on the counter?
You can leave your milk in the Pump Pod on the counter for 4 hours or in the fridge for 4 days.
How do I wash and keep it looking clear and not get cloudy?
It is recommended to use warm water, dish soap, and the scrub brush that comes with the Pump Pod. If over time the Pod starts to yellow, you can soak it in a white vinegar and baking soda solution.
Is it dishwasher safe?
Yes, but it is recommended to place the Pump Pod far away from the heating coils. The interior of the Pump Pod will still need to be washed with the scrub brush.
Will it work with other brand inserts?
The Pump Pod was designed to work with Pumping Pretty Inserts. However, they can work with many other brand inserts on the market. We do know that Maymom and Freemie inserts will not work with the Pump Pod.
What is the best way to measure my nipples to know the size I should be using?
The Nipple Queen Ruler is the most accurate ruler on the market, and not only does it let you know what size flanges you should use, but also what products you might need to accommodate your specific nipples and pump.
Will insurance cover the cost?
Yes, you can use your HSA/FSA account to purchase the Pump Pod, Pumping Pretty Inserts, and the Nipple Queen Ruler.
What is the best way to secure the pod on your breast without it falling?
It should be secured just like a traditional flange. You can use a nursing/pump bra, a tank top, a lanyard, or a pump strap to hold the Pod in place.
What if I feel pinching when I use the Pump Pod?
Make sure you are using the right insert size. Use lube if needed and/or reduce the suction by not squeezing as forcefully.
How many ounces does this hold?
4.5 ounces/130ml but it can go up to 5oz if you are careful.
Can I wear this without a bra?
You can but you will have to hold the Pump Pod as it will fall off if you let it go.
How hard do you squeeze it?
The suction will be based on your comfort level and if you are having a letdown. Mothers will use the Pump Pod while nursing and stimulating a letdown. When a led down happens, you can squeeze the Pod as hard as you want, just as long as you remain comfortable. If you are not experiencing a letdown, you can gently squeeze the Pod so there is light suction.
Can you do the fridge hack with it?
Yes, you can use the Pump Pod and place it in the fridge.
Will it warp if I boil it?
It can. We recommend a low boil and keeping a careful eye on it, making sure to rotate the Pump Pod so it doesn’t get any hot spots. Boil for 1-2 minutes.
